Photography
Journal post op Deviantart.
I often find it hard to make up my mind. This also affects my photography.. until this day I haven't decided what type of photography I prefer (which might not be the type at which I do best). I like macro photography (but I don't have a macro lens), I love portraits (but I don't think I'm good at them), and I love nature and animals.
A while ago vintage/retro photography got really really popular again. Even before everyone started using Apples Instagram. And I can't help but love the nostalgic, colourful, expressive retro photographs 'of the past', although they are very different from the high qualitative, natural images that are preferably not edited. So I'm balancing again, this time between natural images and heavily edited ones. I like them both, I'm tempted to go for retro but then again I don't think adding some textures and filters is much of a skill. I don't want to trivialize anyones efforts and inspiration, but that's what it comes down to for me, in most cases. Trying out the cool stuff that photo-hosting websites and simple editing programs offer. I can't be proud of that can I?
Maybe it's not a bad thing to have changing interests and to be inspired by different things all the time. Maybe I have to accept that I might not ever make up my mind, and keep doing the things I want when I want them. Maybe that's why I stopped taking pictures all together for a while. Just because I didn't feel like it. And when I started to miss it, I picked my camera up again.
