Brief aan Mike's Vrouw
Ik heb deze brief aan de vrouw van Mike geschreven. Ik hoop dat ze het waardeerd en dat het haar goed doet om te horen hoeveel mike betekende voor zijn collegas:
"Dear Judy,
I would like to express my deepest sympathy with the passing of your husband, Mike.
I got to know Mike as a very professional, but caring man.
After a period of doing administrative work in various organisations, Mike offered me my first ‘real job’ as Network Development Officer, and I will always be grateful that he has given me the chance to prove my self professionally.
I have worked for Mike from May 2002 until October 2004 and during that period received much support from him. He taught me a lot about Community Development and always gave me room to develop myself further.
I fondly remember our ‘Supervisions’ where he allowed me to express my true feelings about some of the people I had to work with. I think he always came out of these sessions slightly disillusioned, as he was a true optimist who saw the best in people, and my views did not always reflect his.
One of my fondest memories of Mike was when I had a ‘supervision’ meeting with him in January 2004. He expressed concern about my work over the past month, as I had not preformed well. I burst out into tears, explaining that both my granddad and a good friend of mine had died in the same week earlier in the month. He was very sympathetic, went to find some tissues for me and suggested I would have a week off to recover. He was always very supportive of his team members when we had personal problems. However, when he had personal problems, such as deaths in the family and of course his illness, he would never come to us for support. He would always ‘plod on’ regardless.
Mike strongly believed in the work of the Network Consortium and in the Networks. I believe the Network Consortium would have folded a long time ago if it wasn’t for Mike’s commitment and passion to drive the Network Consortium forward. I always received really positive feedback about Mike, even in my current post as Neighbourhood Partnerships manager in Walsall; I still receive positive feedback about Mike and what he did for the Network Consortium as well as the voluntary sector in Wolverhampton. He was a much respected and much liked man; Wolverhampton’s voluntary sector will not be the same without him.
Although I never had the pleasure to meet you, I will be thinking of you in the forthcoming months and wish you all the best during this sad period.
Yours Sincerely"
Dutch Bird, vrouw, 45 jaar
