Een van de kenmerken:

- Beschouwt relaties met anderen als intiemer dan ze in werkelijkheid zijn.

Feitelijk staat hier eigenlijk dat er blijkbaar 1 werkelijkheid is en dat elke interpretatie ervan niet de waarheid schetst als deze niet exact gelijk is aan die absolute werkelijkheid.

Deze gedachtengoed stoort me. Wie is een derde persoon om te beoordelen of iets wel of niet werkelijk is? Er bestaat alleen maar zoiets als perceptie. Perceptie = werkelijkheid. Hoe jij tegen iets aankijkt, kan anders zijn dan hoe de ander er tegenaan kijkt. En een ander kan daar weer anders tegenaan kijken. Gezamenlijke visie maakt geen waarheid. Dus als iemand tegen mij zegt dat de relatie intiemer is dan werkelijk is, dan kan dat alleen maar bevestigd worden door de ander met wie ik in relatie sta. En niet door een therapeut die de persoon in kwestie niet ondervraagd heeft. Maar wat is een kwantitatieve maat voor intimiteit en intensiteit?

It was six men of Indostan

About the beast to grope,
Than seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
"I see," quoth he, "the Elephant
Is very like a ROPE!"

And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!
